Professional vehicle recovery and removal process — AVR UK

A Simple, Documented Vehicle Removal Process

AVR UK follows a clear, step-by-step approach to assess vehicle removal enquiries and identify the appropriate process for the circumstances.

Why Process Matters

Vehicles left on private land can involve questions of ownership, authority, evidence and the appropriate removal process. Taking action without considering the individual circumstances may create legal or practical problems.

AVR UK uses a documented approach to assess each enquiry. The steps below describe the general process and may vary depending on the vehicle, its location, the type of land and the circumstances involved.

The Process

1

Report

Submit the vehicle details and location. Provide as much information as possible, including the registration number where known, make, model, condition and approximately how long the vehicle has been present.

2

Evidence

Provide photographs and relevant information. Where possible, photographs should clearly show the vehicle, registration plate, condition and its location on the property.

3

Checks & Notices

We assess the circumstances and identify the appropriate checks, notices and next steps. The process required will depend on the individual case.

4

Authority

We confirm the reporter's relationship to the relevant land and their authority to instruct AVR UK. Authority relating to the land should not be presented as proof of ownership of the vehicle.

5

Collection

Where the appropriate requirements have been satisfied and collection is considered appropriate, AVR UK will arrange the vehicle collection and necessary access.

6

Responsible Processing

The vehicle is processed through appropriate channels according to its circumstances. Where an end-of-life vehicle requires destruction, it is processed through an appropriate Authorised Treatment Facility.

7

Completion

Relevant completion information or documentation is provided where applicable, depending on the circumstances and the route through which the vehicle has been processed.

Every Case is Different

The process above is a general guide rather than a fixed legal procedure. The appropriate steps depend on factors including the circumstances of the vehicle, its location, the type of land, the reporter's authority and any rights or interests belonging to other parties. AVR UK will assess the information supplied and discuss the appropriate next steps.
